The mission of the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health is to improve the wellbeing of our patients by providing them with compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare. We offer a full continuum of services, from outpatient care at NYU Langone Psychiatry Associates and inpatient care at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital, to counseling at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Center and consults in the Ronald O. Perlman Center for Emergency Services. We also provide psychiatric care at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, and our many affiliated facilities and institutions, including NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue and The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research.

The commitment of our faculty to providing these outstanding clinical services is rooted in our comprehensive research programs, which explore the causes, prevention, and treatment of conditions that include adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, alcohol use disorder and traumatic stress, and schizophrenia, among many others.

Our many educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows demonstrate our dedication to training the next generation of mental healthcare professionals. In addition, our continuing medical education programs and research training opportunities keep participants abreast of the latest developments in psychiatry, ultimately benefitting our patients.

Recently, our program has achieved national and international recognition for its outstanding quality of care and training. The Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is No. 5 in the country in National Institutes of Health psychiatric grant funding, according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. Our inpatient psychiatric units are accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and our Psychiatry Residency is the No. 5 program in Doximity’s Residency Navigator.
