Summary

The research in my lab focuses on signaling pathways in cells of the immune system, particularly store-operated calcium entry (SOCE), mediated by the calcium release–activated calcium (CRAC) channel, and other ion channels that control immune cell function.

We are investigating how CRAC channels are activated, how they affect cell physiology, and how calcium signals control immune function in the contexts of infection, autoimmunity, and cancer. To this end, we are studying animal models and patients with defects in CRAC channel function. Besides calcium channels, the lab is characterizing a variety of other ion channel pathways in immune cell function in health and disease.
