Interested students must complete the online application form
and also submit a personal essay with the application. Additionally
you will be required to submit 2 letters of recommendation and
an official transcript from all colleges and universities previously
attended. Please follow all directions below.
1. WRITE YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT
Before linking to application form, you will be required to write
a personal essay (approximately 500 words) that explains your
career plans and reasons for applying to this program. Indicate
the areas of your interest and describe any research experience,
courses or laboratory work, which have stimulated your interest
in research. Indicate what graduate courses and/or laboratory
work have best prepared you for this program. Please be sure to
include your name and social security number on each page. The
essay should be double spaced, written with a size 12 font. Be
sure to proof your essay (as you will be required to upload this
document to attach it to the online application).
2. CHOOSE YOUR RECOMMENDERS
You will be required to include the names of the faculty member
who will be writing your letters of recommendation. It is advisable
that you request letters from someone whom you have done research
with, as well as a letter from a professor, dean and/or advisor
who knows you well.
3. LINK TO THE ONLINE APPLICATION
Once you link to the online application, you will be prompted
to complete the information requested. Most information is required
(ethnicity is optional). Be sure to attach your personal essay
by clicking on the “CHOOSE FILE” button and indicate
the file name. Once your essay is uploaded, you may submit your
application. It is extremely important that you review your application
carefully (as you will not be able to review it or make changes
once submitted). After submission, you will be taken to a “Thank
You” page which indicates that your application has been
sent.
4. DOWNLOAD THE FACULTY RECOMMENDATION
FORM
You may download this form directly from this page by clicking
here or from the “Thank You” page. All applicants
must complete the top portion of the form and give it to the
individuals who will write your letters of recommendation.
Be advised that 2 Letters of Recommendation are required to
complete your application.
5. REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT
Ask your college or university registrar to send an official transcript(s)
directly to the Sackler Program Office.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to insure that all
application materials, including both letters of recommendation
and official transcript(s) are received in the program office
by the application deadline. Incomplete applications will not
be considered for admission. You may confirm receipt of materials
