Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain

Mission

The core mission of the Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain at NYU Langone Medical Center is to preserve, improve and comfort human life. This mission will be achieved through the provision of superior clinical care, academic excellence, and innovative research.

We have recently changed our name to the Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain at NYU Langone Medical Center to reflect our reputation as a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary, patient-centered care facility. We are an international center serving corporate business and individuals from all over the world. At this Center, clinicians and scientists gather to advance scientific knowledge by stimulating multispecialty cooperative projects involving basic and clinical sciences related to acute and chronic pain mechanisms, pain prevention, rehabilitation and clinical care to promote novel modality and analgesic development.

The Center for the Study and Treatment of Pain at NYU Langone Medical Center was the first Center in New York State to be awarded the American Pain Society's 2007 Clinical Center of Excellence Award to honor programs that exemplify the provision of outstanding, multidisciplinary clinical care to patients. This prestigious award was given to only six programs across the country and our award presents the only award in New York City.
