Postdoctoral fellowship programs in NYU Langone’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offer advanced training in six child and adolescent psychology subspecialties. The programs take place at the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.

We welcome candidates who have completed an accredited American Psychological Association (APA) doctoral program and an APA-approved internship to apply to our intensive and specialized training programs in these concentrated areas of interest. Through supervised training and coursework, you develop increasing competency in your chosen subspecialty and are ready to advance to licensure. All candidates must acquire a New York state limited practice permit.

Our Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs

We offer a range of advanced training opportunities in child and adolescent psychiatry:

ADHD, Disruptive Behavior Disorders, and Early Childhood Fellowship

Fellows gain advanced instruction in parent management training and parent–child interaction therapy for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and disruptive behavior disorders; learn how to perform structured behavioral school consultations; and consult with parents and young children with a variety of developmental and behavior concerns. Anxiety and Mood Disorders in Children Fellowship

Fellows master cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy treatment approaches for children and adolescents who have anxiety, mood, and other internalizing disorders at the Anita Saltz Institute for Anxiety and Mood Disorders. Autism Spectrum Disorder Fellowship

Developmental Brain Science Fellowship

Fellows learn about the biological bases of neurodevelopmental disorders, supervise longitudinal data collection on this topic, and gain a better understanding of factors in the environment that increase or mitigate risk for these conditions. Gender and Sexuality Service and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy-Adolescent Fellowship

Fellows receive training to provide gender affirming clinical services including psychotherapy as part of the Gender and Sexuality Service and provide training in the Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-A) Program for gender diverse teens with emotion dysregulation and life-threatening behaviors. Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health Fellowship

Fellows provide consultation and training to medical teams on behavioral health and conduct cognitive behavioral therapy within medical subspecialty clinics for pediatric patients and their families who are coping with acute or chronic medical conditions. Fellows also gain experience in supervising predoctoral psychology externs and interns with support from our attending psychology team. Pediatric Neuropsychology Fellowship

Fellows learn how to assess and identify successful interventions and accommodations for children, adolescents, and young adults with neurodevelopmental conditions, including acquired brain injury, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, epilepsy, and learning disabilities.
