Institute for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity and Behavior Disorders

The Institute for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity and Behavior Disorders focuses on ADHD throughout the lifespan, and on co-occurring conditions, such as learning disabilities. Established and promising treatments are incorporated into the Institute’s clinical services and training and teaching programs. One such program is Organizational Skills Training (OST) for children with ADHD, which has been developed at NYU Langone Medical Center for nearly two decades. Our experienced professionals understand that many children with ADHD continue to struggle with organizational skills, even when other behavioral symptoms have improved. With patience, consistency, and expertise our team teaches children to:

  • Organize themselves
  • Manage their time
  • Plan effectively

Parents who enroll their children in OST often see improvements in their children’s behavior and performance. Results include significant advancement in academic performance and in-school productivity, reduced homework problems, and improved relationships with family and friends.

OST designed for elementary school children with ADHD has been shown to be effective in rigorously controlled studies. We also offer programs that enhance organizational skills and executive functioning for teens and young adults with ADHD, and are developing programs to target organizational skills in children and adolescents who also have autism spectrum disorder.
