Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Digital Innovation Research
Investigators at NYU Langone’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry conduct digital innovation research, applying technology and data science in ways that improve the quality and accessibility of mental healthcare for children and adolescents.
What informs our research is the recognition that the majority of children and adolescents with mental health conditions do not have access to treatment, and that even fewer have access to evidence-based care.
To accelerate the pace of research and advance the study of child and adolescent mental health, we’ve partnered with scientists at the NYU Langone Digital DesignLab and the Department of Population Health on a digital health initiative called WonderLab.
At WonderLab, child mental health experts, software developers, user experience designers, data scientists, and engineers build beautiful, fun, and engaging digital tools that advance research, clinical care, and education to aid children and adolescents with mental healthcare needs.
WonderLab’s When to Wonder: Picky Eating app is our first in a series of smartphone apps on the When to Wonder mobile health platform, which offers parents and caregivers digital tools to make better decisions about their child’s emotions and behaviors. We plan to use the data we collect to create a global body of knowledge about child behavior that may help researchers better understand child development and mental health around the world.
