NYU Mass Spectrometry Core for Neuroscience Services & Fees
The NYU Mass Spectrometry Core for Neuroscience offers a range of services, including liquid chromatography, reduction and alkylation, affinity purification, quantitation, and more. Often, we provide our services and expertise at no charge to neuroscientists.
How to Initiate a New Project
To initiate a project with us, submit a new project form.
Each project is evaluated by Thomas A. Neubert, PhD, facility director, and members of our steering committee. Projects are accepted according to the following priority scheme:
- First priority: National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)–funded projects
- Second priority: other National Institutes of Health (NIH)–funded, neuroscience-related projects
- Third priority: unfunded or new lines of experimentation consistent with the NINDS mission
- Fourth priority: unfunded or new lines of experimentation that are not neuroscience related, but align with other NIH agencies
In most cases, especially for new users, we recommend discussing the project in advance with Dr. Neubert before filling out the new project form. Email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Currently, we do not charge for services provided to scientists with approved neuroscience-related projects. In the event we reach capacity, our steering committee may approve the use of a discounted charge-back system so we can support additional staff.
It is rare that we are not fully occupied with projects related to neuroscience. However, in the event that we can process non-neuroscience–related samples, fees are as follows:
