Xiaoping Shen, MD, Associate Research Scientist

Xiaoping Shen, MDDr. Xiaoping (Jennifer) Shen is an Associate Research Scientist in the Diabetes Research Program, at NYU Langone Medical Center.  She obtained her M.D. in 1983 and completed her internal medicine residency at the Capital University of Medicine in Beijing, China.

Dr. Shen was a cardiologist at the Beijing Dian-Li Hospital from 1986 to 1997. She came to the USA in 1997 and was awarded a B.S. degree in Bioinformatics in 2002 and then enrolled in the Computer Science M.S. program at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York. Her research studies included inherited diseases, such as, Batten disease and progeria, at the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities from 2002 to 2007.

In 2007, Dr. Shen joined Dr. Schmidt’s lab at Columbia University Medical Center.  She later relocated with the lab to NYU Langone Medical Center in 2010.
