I am an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine. I am also a professor at the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China, which I joined through its Hundred Talents Program in 2015. I serve as deputy director of its Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Center and the principal investigator of the R-fMRI Lab.

Before 2015 I worked as a research scientist at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg, New York, and as a research assistant professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine. I received my PhD in cognitive neuroscience from the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University in 2011.

My research focuses on resting-state functional MRI (R-fMRI) computational methodologies, mechanisms of spontaneous brain activity, and their applications to brain disorders. In my work I have addressed fundamental methodological issues, such as the impact of head motion and standardization, in the study of resting-state functional connectomics. I have also developed data-processing and analysis tools for R-fMRI, including Data Processing & Analysis of Brain Imaging (DPABI) and Data Processing Assistant for Resting-State fMRI (DPARSF), with the publication of the latter having been cited over 1,000 times.

I have published 43 peer-reviewed articles (including 14 as first or corresponding author) in prestigious journals, including Cerebral Cortex, NeuroImage, Neuroinformatics, Translational Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, and Nature Methods. I currently serve as a review editor for Frontiers in Neuroscience: Brain Imaging Methods and Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, and I am a member of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping Communications Committee.
