As director of the Medical ICU- I am involved with the production, process, implementation and analysis of multiple quality initiatives including, but not limited to, the EMR-based quality/safety rounding checklist, new severe sepsis/septic shock algorithms and novel ICU admission/discharge criteria. In additoin, I am currently a co-investigator on 2 studies of pharmacotherapy of hepatorenal syndrome and have applied for a grant to investigate the effect of acute interstitial edema after crystalloid resuscitation of septic shock on venous flow parameters and the incidence of venous thromboembolism.
I am actively studying quality improvement tools in the MICU, risks for venous thromboembolism, and ideal mechanical ventilaor settings in venovenous ECMO
