Institute for Computational Medicine Openings for Principal Investigators
NYU School of Medicine is hiring tenure-track assistant and associate professors for the new Institute for Computational Medicine.
Directed by Itai Yanai, PhD, the institute is a hub for computational approaches to medical challenges through basic science. We occupy brand-new wet and dry laboratories designed to foster collaborative and innovative research. Our focus is on research in cancer biology, host–pathogen interactions, adaptive immune systems, and population health.
Dr. Yanai and Eva Chmielnicki, PhD, executive director, have recently published a comment article in Genome Biology about the increasing importance of computational biologists in the scientific enterprise. Titled “Computational Biologists: Moving to the Driver’s Seat,” the article highlights the type of original multifaceted thinkers we would like to recruit to lead a group at our institute.
We seek colleagues with research programs focused on several topics:
- big data analytics
- systems biology
- clinical informatics
- evolutionary systems
- microbiome research
- cancer biology
- large-scale data integration
A successful candidate earns a primary appointment in a relevant NYU Langone Health department and can participate in one or more graduate programs.
Principal investigators are expected to lead their own research and foster collaborations at NYU Langone.
Qualifications and Application
A PhD in biological sciences is required for application.
Submit your application online by May 1, 2018.
