Residency Program Application

The NYU Langone Department of Neurology offers two ACGME-accredited Categorical Child Neurology each year. We are committed to excellent clinical training emphasizing a well- balanced, hands-on experience in neurology. There is exposure to a broad patient base and a diverse faculty. Our residents rotate in 4 hospitals: NYU Langone Tisch Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, Veteran Affairs Hospital in Manhattan, and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. Both basic science and clinical research is available and encouraged during residency. NYU Langone offers a variety of fellowships, which provide exposure to subspecialty options. The eligibility requirements and selection process for the child neurology program are described below.

  • NYU Langone typically accepts two residents per year into the child neurology program.
  • Applications are accepted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) ONLY. Using the Internet, you can transmit a standardized application, letters of recommendations (LOR’s), the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), transcripts, and other supporting documents.
  • Positions are offered to applicants through National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
  • We offer categorical positions that include two preliminary years in Pediatrics in conjunction with the NYU Pediatric Residency Program to start the academic year immediately following the application process.
  • Your application should include:
    • USMLE Part 1 test scores required; there is a minimum USMLE Part 1 score of 200
    • MSPE (Dean's Letter)
    • Medical School Transcript
    • 3 or more LOR’s
    • Personal Statement
    • Photograph
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Selected applicants are invited for interviews in the months of November and December.
  • A second visit after the interview is welcome.
  • NYU Langone does not offer H-1B sponsorship for house staff, residents, or fellows. J-1 sponsorship is available through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
