Shoulder and Elbow Division

The Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at NYU Langone Health invites outstanding college graduates, medical students, medical graduates, and orthopedic surgeons to apply for a one or two year research fellowship in clinical and translational sciences. Selected candidates will be mentored by full-time NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital faculty members, Drs. Young W. Kwon, Andrew S. Rokito, Mandeep S. Virk and Joseph D. Zuckerman. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the basic principles that form the foundation for scientific investigation. Over the course of the research fellow’s tenure, he or she will gain the ability to develop and polish his or her skills as an independent researcher. This includes formulating hypotheses, developing research protocols, and writing IRB applications. The research fellow will also collect and analyze data for academic publications and/or presentations as well as become familiar with the grant writing process. This position also involves managing our shoulder and elbow database, which compiles inpatient and outpatient outcomes on procedures performed by our division since 2010. Although major emphasis of this position is clinical research, opportunities can be made available to shadow our orthopedic physicians both in clinic and the operating room. The research fellow attends shoulder and elbow academic conferences, research meetings, and resident didactic lectures. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with interests in orthopedic surgery who wish to strengthen their medical school, orthopedic residency, or orthopedic subspecialty fellowship applications. Prior data management and biostatistical experience is preferred, but not required.

To apply, please submit a cover letter detailing your interests, curriculum vitae with United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) scores (if applicable), and photograph via email to:
