Center for Biomedical Imaging

The Bernard and Irene Schwartz Center for Biomedical Imaging (CBI) is the research division of the Department of Radiology at NYU Langone Health.

CBI comprises more than 100 scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrators, including more than 30 full-time research faculty. In addition, clinical faculty work together with researchers and contribute clinical expertise to all stages of technology development, evaluation, and translation to medical practice.

CBI instrumentation includes multiple clinical MRI scanners, a clinical PET-MR system, and an ultra-high-field MRI scanner dedicated to research. In addition, CBI operates a state-of-the-art RF engineering laboratory, a radiochemistry facility, and supercomputing clusters. CBI also draws on the resources of the preclinical imaging core, partially supported by the Department of Radiology and by the Center for Advanced Imaging Innovation and Research (CAI2R).

CBI is located at 660 First Avenue in Manhattan, and shares the building with the headquarters of the Department of Radiology and with CAI2R.
