Industrial Liaison Partnership Opportunities for Industry, Investors & Entrepreneurs
NYU’s Industrial Liaison is committed to supporting translational research and has a strong track record in seeing its discoveries successfully commercialized to benefit the public.
We encourage companies, venture investors, and entrepreneurs to partner with us in developing new technologies and creating new ventures to enhance healthcare and promote economic development.
Biomedical Product Development
More than 30 biomedical products have come to market based on NYU technologies, including drugs to treat cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis; diagnostics to help guide cancer and HIV therapy; MRI technology; orthopedic and dental implants; stent technology; and monitoring equipment.
Numerous additional products are in clinical trials by NYU licensees, including drugs for cancers, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetic complications, and malaria. Agricultural technologies to improve crop yields for food and biofuels have also been commercially developed, as have numerous electronics and software technologies, including integrated circuits, touch screens, animation, and customer relations management systems.
We actively promote entrepreneurship and have helped launch more than 160 companies based on technologies developed by researchers at NYU.
Over the past 5 years, NYU created 50 percent more startup companies per research dollar expended than the national average. In the past 2 years, 4 NYU startups had initial public offerings and 1 had a major acquisition, and a number of others completed significant financings and achieved key development milestones.
To encourage the seeding of new companies, we have also overseen an Applied Research Support Fund to provide bridge funding for commercially promising technologies. To date, we have invested a total of $4.8 million, generating more than $45 million in subsequent licensing and commercialization.
We encourage companies, venture investors, and entrepreneurs to contact us to explore how we can work together developing new technologies and creating new ventures to benefit the public and promote economic development.
