Biomaterials Science PhD Training Program
The Biomaterials Science PhD Training Program at NYU School of Medicine’s Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences prepares candidates for careers in research and development in both academia and industry.
Our faculty are drawn from across NYU School of Medicine and the Department of Biomaterials at NYU College of Dentistry, a world-class craniofacial research and healthcare institution and the largest dental school in the United States.
As a PhD candidate, you gain a broad understanding of biomaterials—their structure, fabrication, function, and interactions with cells and tissues—as well as their use in healthcare. You conduct research in tissue engineering, interfacial biology, and other aspects of biotechnology. You employ techniques such as electron microscopy, X-ray imaging and diffraction, 3D printing, mechanical and materials characterization, and biomaterials synthesis.
As you progress through the program, you gain the knowledge, skills, experience, and confidence required to launch your career and improve human health through the use of biomaterials in various treatments.
