Our Anesthesia Team

Patient Care

The NYU Langone Robotic Surgery Center’s team of board-certified anesthesiologists is a highly sophisticated and experienced unit. Under the direction of Dr. George Vaida, Medical Director and Anesthesia Director for the HCC2 Surgical Suite, we’ve spent the past 5 years perfecting specialized techniques for robot-assisted surgery. Our team is skilled in every type of anesthesia, including general anesthesia, all varieties of regional anesthesia, and nerve blocks. We also use an innovative system known as Complete Care to optimize patient care before, during and after surgery. This includes…

  • Analyzing pre-admission testing and pre-operative evaluations to make sure each patient is in optimal condition before surgery.
  • Discussing anesthesia choices with each patient and recommending an anesthesia technique ideally suited to the patient’s medical condition and type of surgery.
  • Using the most modern, versatile anesthetics as well as continuous brain wave monitoring to ensure that patients are entirely unaware and pain-free during their procedure.
  • Monitoring patients for several hours after surgery. We use the most modern techniques to optimize comfort, completely control pain, and minimize any negative side effects of anesthesia and surgery. Postoperative nausea and vomiting is almost totally eliminated through skillful use of modern anesthetics and preventative medications. Patient-controlled analgesia, tailored to each patient’s needs, is also available to provide superior pain control without the side effects of morphine.
