NYUMC Procedural Sedation Policy Exclusion Criteria:

• The administration of a minimal dose of a single medication in order to effect anxiolysis constitutes minimal sedation

  • Ex: 1 or 2 mg of IV Versed in a 20 y.o. patient.

• Use of sedative agents for control of acute agitation or withdrawal states.

• Use of analgesics for acute pain control.

• Routine nighttime use of hypnotics.

• Intubated patients.
