Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
My scholarly work focuses on enhancing women’s health care through education across the continuum of education from college through medical school, residency and fellowship. As healthcare expands exponentially, it is increasingly clear that physicians must have the capability to be resilient, life-long learners with strong motivation and skills of self-assessment. I have created and studied educational tools that reflect this focus including developing and teaching Narrative Medicine workshops for students, residents and fellows, structured programs for physician wellness for trainees and faculty, and development of the Test of Integrated Professional Skills, a comprehensive assessment for obstetrics and gynecology trainees. I have focused particular interest in the transition between medical student and resident, co-directing the Transition to Residency Course at NYU School of Medicine, a weeklong course for graduating medical students in all specialties to help new interns prepare for their role as well as specialty-specific curricula for obstetrics & gynecology trainees after the match.
