Professor, Department of Medicine
My research focuses on clinical care and system-based practices quality improvement as well as medical education.
One particular methodology that I use to better understand the clinical milieu is the feedback from unannounced standardized patients (USPs). The ultimate ‘secret shopper’, the USPs provide both quantitative and qualitative feedback on clinical reasoning, clinical care, the effectiveness of the clinical team and documentation in the electronic health record.
Currently, I am also looking at special pathogen preparedness in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the ambulatory setting.
