Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Medicine
I am a physician, and a board-certified geriatrician dedicated to advancing care for older adults through a holistic, patient-centered approach. My journey in medicine began with a deep-seated interest in helping others and an enduring fascination with the complexities of the human body. Early in my career, I identified geriatrics as an evolving field poised for significant growth, driven by demographic shifts that would increase the demand for specialized geriatric care. Although I did not pursue a traditional research path, I have always been passionate about data analysis and quality improvement, leading me to a fulfilling role as a faculty member in geriatrics at NYU.
In my practice, I am committed to addressing not only the physical health of my patients but also the mental and social challenges that often accompany aging, such as social isolation, loneliness, and depression. I take pride in fostering a compassionate environment, serving as a trusted support system for both patients and their families.
At Bellevue Geriatric Clinic, which is recognized as an Age-Friendly Health System and a Safety-Net health care facility, our team is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, holistic care to a high-risk, socially and economically vulnerable population. Our clinic emphasizes a collaborative approach, working closely with caregivers and families to provide patients with tailored support.
Our ongoing quality improvement projects are designed to meet the evolving needs of older adults, including enhanced mental health screenings, streamlined access to essential medical equipment, and systems that prioritize patient safety and well-being. In recognition of my commitment to advancing quality care in geriatrics, I was honored to receive the Faculty of the Year Award in 2023.
