Dr. Jean-Pierre Lindenmayer is Director of the Manhattan Schizophrenia Research Program at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center- Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, New York, and Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine, New York City. Dr. Lindenmayer’s particular interest has included the development of new pharmacological treatments for schizophrenia and the development of assessment instruments, such as the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, which has become the gold standard. He was the first to introduce the syndromal approach in the measurement of schizophrenia psychopathology using the PANSS derived five factor subscales. More recently, he has extended his assessment work in using immersive and non-immersive virtual reality technology in addition to the examination of negative symptoms using AI based speech and facial recordings in order to characterize the digital phenotype of negative symptoms. Dr. Lindenmayer’s work has led to numerous publications in leading scientific journals and presentations at national and international meetings.
