Summary

Educated at Stanford University and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, I am an attending psychiatrist and psychiatric consultant at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in outpatient collaborative care, and a clinical associate professor NYU School of Medicine.

I am board certified in both psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine—a specialty involving the psychiatric care of patients with medical illness—and in internal medicine. These guide me in the treatment of patients with both medical illnesses and psychiatric illnesses such as anxiety or depression. I also have advanced education and training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

I have been appointed Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, awarded nationally to psychiatrists who have significantly contributed to the profession in a variety of areas, including clinical care. I served as the past president of the Society for Liaison Psychiatry, the New York–area organization of consultation psychiatrists, and continue to serve as a core faculty member of International Antiviral Society–USA, and on the New York State Department of Health Mental Health Guideline Committee.

My private practice and academic work emphasize a collaborative and humanistic approach to care, including understanding symptom origins; alleviating distress; addressing obstacles to healthy lifestyle choices; and emphasizing long-term wellbeing, self-esteem, and satisfaction.
