Summary

My research in partnership with Dr. Jordan Axelrad, MD MPH, in the NYU Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center focuses on Immune-Epithelial Interactions in IBDs such as Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Our team aims to understand mechanisms of inflammation onset and progression using patient-derived tissues and organoid models. One goal is to develop in vitro models recapitulating specific aspects of individual patients' disease, towards characterization of disease heterogeneity and prediction of therapy response. We envision using these individualized models to improve patient outcomes via Precision Medicine optimized therapeutic approaches.
