I am an academic hospitalist whose work focuses on health equity, global health, and medical education. My clinical and scholarly interests are rooted in a commitment to advancing equitable care both locally and globally.
My global health work has evolved through longitudinal clinical and research experiences across sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. I have trained in tropical medicine through the Gorgas Diploma Course in Peru and additional clinical coursework in India, and have clinical experience in Tanzania, Zambia, Nicaragua, and northern Australia.
I am currently working on a research project based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, in partnership with the Center for Research in Women’s Health at UAB and Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services. This project is evaluating the prevalence of congenital toxoplasmosis among pregnant women and infants, with the goal of informing screening strategies.
My goal is to expand global health and tropical medicine education within residency training, equipping learners with the clinical tools and critical frameworks necessary to care for increasingly diverse and globally connected patient populations.
