Summary

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health, Institute for Excellence in Health Equity, Section for Global Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. My training is in medical anthropology, with post-doctoral training in public health and HIV prevention and treatment. My work focuses on the implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of more integrated sexual, reproductive, and mental health programming for adolescents and young adults. Methodologically, my work is grounded in qualitative and mixed methods approaches, multidisciplinary team collaboration, and community-engaged, participatory research that centers the needs and assets of communities. I am currently working on projects focused on adolescent and young adult health promotion in India, the U.S., and several sub-Saharan African countries (Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda), as well as social determinants of health research in the U.S.

Prior to joining NYU, I received my BA in biology and anthropology at Grinnell College, and my MA and PhD in anthropology at the University of Connecticut. After my PhD, I completed NIMH-funded post-doctoral training in HIV prevention and treatment at Yale’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS, followed by a K12 award focused on patient-centered outcomes research at the Yale School of Public Health. From 2021-2023, I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, San Antonio campus where I continued my research on adolescent and young adult sexual and reproductive health and rights and taught qualitative methods.
