Matthew Lee, DrPH, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the  Division of Health & Behavior within NYU Grossman School of Medicine's Department of Population Health. Dr. Lee earned their masters and doctorate in Sociomedical Sciences from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and is a former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar.

As a community-engaged and policy-focused implementation scientist, Dr. Lee’s research applies participatory approaches and mixed methods to examine the reach and impact of policies and evidence-based interventions within communities. Specifically, Dr. Lee is focused on improving the implementation and sustainability of key policies and programs to eliminate health disparities and has published this research in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Public HealthSocial Science & MedicineTranslational Behavioral Medicine, Health Services ResearchInternational Journal of Behavioral Medicine, and Implementation Science Communications. Dr. Lee's research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).

Dr. Lee has served on the Conference Program Committee for the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Sciences (IAPHS) and has been selected twice (2020, 2022) to present in the “Best of D&I” session at the Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) in Health co-hosted by NIH and AcademyHealth. Most recently, Dr. Lee was invited to Co-Chair the 2025 IAPHS Conference on "Community Engagement in Population Health Science."
