Assistant Professor, Department of Population Health
I am a social scientist with an interdisciplinary background in family science, public health, and medical anthropology. My overarching research goals are to understand associations and underlying mechanisms of chronic conditions, poor mental health, and comorbid health outcomes in minority and immigrant communities, and develop culturally tailored interventions based on this understanding.
A community-engaged approach is central to my research, specifically partnering with community organizations and members to ensure studies are culturally and linguistically tailored to communities. Through this approach I work with community partners on study design, refinement of data collection instruments, recruitment strategies, and dissemination efforts.
My research has been published in high impact journals including Annals of Epidemiology, Annual Review of Public Health, Assessment, and JAMA Network Open.
