Assistant Professor, Department of Population Health
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Population Health Section for Health Equity at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The overarching goal of my research is to reduce cancer disparities experienced by immigrant and minoritized communities, with a particular interest in Arab American communities. My research leverages multi-sectoral community engagement and participatory approaches to explore multilevel determinants of cancer disparities and implement community driven, locally relevant, evidence-based interventions. My work is driven by experiences with cancer within my own family as well as a broader commitment to health equity.
I serve on the Leadership Council of the American Society for Preventive Oncology Disparities Special Interest Group and co-lead the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network Health Equity Workgroup sub-committee on operationalizing health equity in cancer research. I am an associate editor for the journal Progress in Community Health Partnerships.
