Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry
When I was in medical school, I wanted to be a pathologist. However, my grandmother who I was very close to, told me, "I don't see you in a lab with a microscope and not talking to patients." I realized that she was right. When I was in my residency training, in a medical rotation for six months. I realized that I couldn't be an internist because I was spending most of my time talking to patients about their feelings. That's when I decided to become a psychiatrist.
I specialize in Geriatric Psychiatry. I enjoy working with elderly people and I like the marriage between medicine and psychiatry. I have been practicing geriatric psychiatry for over 30 years and I wish I could practice for 30 more! I particularly like to work with cancer patients and dementing patients. I like to be a liaison between the patient, their families, and their other medical practitioners. I like to advocate for elder care and for my elderly patients to continue living in their community.
