My research focuses on kidney and cardiovascular disease epidemiology, aging, and caregiving, and builds on my internationally-recognized expertise in the direction and management of large, multi-centered research projects, meta-analyses, and the training of researchers. I am the Operations Director for the global Chronic Kidney Disease Prognosis Consortium (CKD-PC), a 200+ investigator consortium of 100+ cohorts, with data on over 36 million participants from over 40 countries, and a Data Coordinating Center housed at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. I coordinate the collection and harmonization of data, set timelines and CKD-PC priorities, review analysis plans, review and edit all manuscripts, and create the extensive supplemental appendices for all papers. CKD-PC work has focused on building the evidence basis for national and international clinical guideline groups as well as the development and validation of clinically-relevant risk tools.
I also work with the Atherosclerosis Risks in Communities (ARIC) and the Neurocognitive Study (ARIC-NCS), an epidemiologic cohort study started in 1987 with over 35 years of follow-up on 15,792 participants. Within ARIC, I research important outcomes in older adults, including kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, frailty, and muscle mass.
In my role as Assistant Director of Research Management and Integration of the Optimal Aging Institute at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and as a member of faculty within the Department of Population Health, I work to collaborate with other researchers to catalyze and manage large, inter-disciplinary research that will improve optimal health locally and globally.
