Summary

My research focuses on using technology to preserve the rich and significant institutional history of NYU Langone Health, including the history of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and Long Island Grossman School of Medicine.  I also support scholarly research in the history of medicine by developing tools to improve access to a variety of materials in the archival collections, including images, documents, publications, and other institutional records.

A secondary area of research is to explore the use of visualization to increase access and understanding of historical medical practices and treatments.  Most of the information contained within archival collections is in text form. Using different types of visualizations to extract and present data will make that information easier to analyze and contribute to the field of medical humanities.

In my role at the NYU Health Sciences Library as Associate Curator and Assistant Director of the Lillian and Clarence de La Chapelle Medical Archives at NYU, I provide expertise in historical research and seek opportunities for the archives to support educational experiences in the rich history of our institution to our community.
