Clinical Instructor, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine
My research is primarily focused on patient and facility factors related to surgical outcomes for patients undergoing total knee and total hip arthroplasty. Specifically, I have investigated the relationship between patient mobility and likelihood of same day hospital discharge. My work established a cutoff score for a standardized mobility measure, the Five Times Sit to Stand Test, to distinguish those patients who are well-suited for same day discharge from those who would benefit from an overnight stay.
I am also interested in High Intensity Gait Training (HIGT), an innovative intervention for those recovering from acute neurological injury. My team have utilized the Knowledge To Action (KTA) framework to implement HIGT at Rusk Rehabilitation, and is currently investigating the efficacy of the intervention at various doses for locomotor recovery after stroke.
As the Program Manager of Physical Therapy at the Langone Orthopedic Hospital, I oversee department operations and quality initiatives for acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and pediatric physical therapy programs.
