My research focuses on developing cancer therapeutic agents and novel molecular tools for biomedical research by designing and engineering antibodies. We employ synthetic design and a directed evolution approach to generate powerful antibodies. We engineer antibodies in various formats for developing anti-cancer drugs, including bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and multivalent antibodies. We are also developing platform technology that effectively generates renewable, high-performance antibody reagents targeting challenging antigens, such as post-translational modifications, by exploiting our discovery of the unique antigen-binding mode of antibodies.
