The research projects in our laboratory are centered on the mechanisms of action of metformin, the most prescribed anti–type II diabetes medicine. We are particularly interested in its antineoplastic effects and its impact on bone metabolism in diabetes.
Using various animal and cell culture models and molecular and cellular techniques, we have revealed the role of metformin as an epigenetic regulator and metabolic rebalancer, restoring normal cellular function in cancer and diabetes.
