Ying Jiang, PhD

As a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone School of Medicine and a Research Scientist at the Center for Dementia Research of the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, my primary research interests center on the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease (AD). I utilize human brain samples, cell models, and a range of transgenic mouse models—including those for Down syndrome, amyloid precursor protein (APP), Rab5, and APPL1—to investigate how dysfunction in the neuronal endosomal-lysosomal system contributes to disease onset and progression. My work has resulted in over 30 peer-reviewed publications and two book chapters, with key findings highlighting the role of APP-βCTF (rather than, or in addition to, Aβ) in endosomal/lysosomal dysfunction and the pathogenesis of AD. The outcomes of my research were vital to the successful applications of our Program Project and multiple R01 grants.

In addition to my research, I serve as a reviewer for many scientific journals, including Scientific Reports, PLOS ONE, Open Life Science, and the Journal of Neuroscience.
