NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics PhD Training Program focuses on the molecular mechanisms of a wide array of biological phenomena, including cellular transport, cell signaling, nucleic acids, and protein folding and design, through the use of biophysical and biochemical tools. In this program offered through the Vilcek Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, students benefit from a strong history of collaboration between participating laboratories. This provides an opportunity to combine approaches from different disciplines to investigate essential biological processes.

Our students use experimental approaches to molecular biology, including X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, computational modeling, MRI, mass spectrometry, single-molecule imaging, and other biophysical and biochemical methods.
