MENISCAL REPAIR BIOLOGIC AUGMENTATION: MARROW VENTING PROCEDURE VERSUS PRP (MVP TRIAL)
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness and safety of meniscal repair in 2 groups of patients: meniscal repair with biological augmentation using a bone marrow venting procedure of the intercondylar notch versus meniscal repair with biological augmentation using PRP. We hypothesize that arthroscopic meniscus repair with concomitant bone marrow venting procedure of the intercondylar notch will result in both an improved healing rate and better functional outcomes.

Mesoscopic Biomarkers of Neurodegeneration and Inflammation with Diffusion MRI
In this study, novel diffusion MRI markers in brain white matter will be evaluated to yield clinically feasible non-invasive MR markers that are sensitive and specific to diffuse neurodegenerative and inflammatory processes in brain white matter of Multiple Sclerosis patients. The white matter microstructure markers will be evaluated in their ability to track disease progression, both in a cross-sectional and longitudinal design in MS patients with a varying range of disability. Ultimately, the MRI pipeline for estimating WM microstructure markers will be straightforwardly extendable beyond MS, to help understand and quantify neurodegeneration and inflammation in other neurological diseases.
Metabolomics of World Trade Center-Lung Injury: Biomarker Validation Assessment and Dietary Intervention: Food Intake REstriction for Health OUtcome Support and Education (FIREHOUSE) Trial
This is a dietary intervention study that will examine the therapuetic effect of a Calorie Restricted Mediterranean (LoCalMed) diet on clinical endpoints such as FEV1, FeNO, vascular stiffness, and show concurrent changes of targeted biomarkers and quality of life measures. We will compare BMI changes, lung function, targeted biomarkers, quality of life measures, FeNO, and pulse wave velocity (PWV) pre- to post-intervention.

Microbial and host biomarkers for endotyping critically ill patients
We will prospectively collect airway, stool and blood samples on 1000 subjects admitted to the ICU with diagnosis of sepsis, acute respiratory distress symdrome (ARDS) or pneumonia. We will evaluate airway/gut microbial signatures associated with local (lower airway) and systemic (blood) immune tone. We will then study whether airway/gut microbial signatures are associated with clinical outcomes (Aim 1) and dysbiotic signatures are associated with host immune endotypes (Aim 2).
