About CTN NY Node

The New York Node (NYN) was established in 2010, and is co-led by Jennifer McNeely, MD, MS (NYU), Edward Nunes, MD (Columbia University), and Aimee Campbell, PhD, MSW (Columbia University). The NYN collaborates with academic partners Rutgers University (liaison: Denise Hien, PhD, ABDD) and Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore (liaison: Joanna Starrels, MD, MS) to engage a broad community of researchers and service providers in the region.

Our Node leads and supports trials across the translational spectrum, with a strong focus on studying the effectiveness, implementation, and scalability of SUD interventions. By developing, leading, and participating in CTN trials, we aim to increase the availability, accessibility, and acceptability of high-quality, evidence-based SUD care nationwide.

Currently in its fifth competing grant renewal (2025–2032), our work focuses on six core themes:

  1. Expanding access to SUD treatment through low-barrier, community-based models.
  2. Integrating evidence-based SUD care into medical and community settings.
  3. Enhancing treatment effectiveness by addressing mental health comorbidities.
  4. Investigating innovative treatments, including medications and digital therapeutics.
  5. Leveraging existing data (e.g., EHR, administrative data) for real-world insights and secondary analyses.
  6. Training the next generation of addiction researchers.
