Division of Hospital Medicine Clinical Services
In the Division of Hospital Medicine at NYU Langone, hospitalists diagnose and treat a wide variety of illnesses in patients admitted to general medicine and specialty units at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion, NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk, the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System, and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
Our hospital-based doctors work with referring physicians and specialists to manage the care of adult patients, including coordinating and overseeing care, collaborating with NYU Langone’s many specialists, and managing patient discharge and transitions of care.
Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion
The Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion campus is in Manhattan and serves as the flagship hospital of the NYU Langone Health system. The hospital medicine service covers more than 200 patients who are hospitalized with a wide variety of illnesses. We are comprised of house-staff services, advanced practice provider (APP) services, and medicine consultation. We provide world-class medical care to patients at their most vulnerable time by focusing on the patient using quality and safety outcomes.
Daytime Hospitalists
Our daytime hospitalists lead their teams through medical rounds and interdisciplinary rounds in the morning. We coordinate care with our consultants, families, and outpatient providers. As experts in hospital medicine, we are also involved in multiple committees and departments throughout the hospital striving to continually improve patient outcomes.
House-Staff Teams
Our house staff teams are built in the classic design with one attending, one senior resident, two interns and medical students (up to one acting intern and two clinically rotating students). Our dedicated teaching hospitalists are part of our education firm and devote significant time to education.
Advance Practice Provider Teams
Our APP teams comprise one attending and one APP. Our expert clinicians work efficiently with our APPs in order to progress patient care.
Hospitalist Scholars
Our hospitalist scholars cover mostly nights and weekends. Scholars are involved in covering patients awaiting medicine beds in the emergency room, medicine consultation, and cross-covering our oncology patients overnight. Learn about our Hospitalist Scholars Program.
Night Captain
Finally, we have a full-time night hospitalist captain. Our night captain helps manage the overall flow of the medicine patients overnight and works with residents and APPs to help with complicated medical cases and new admissions. The night captain also helps wherever else is needed ensuring patient safety.
