Institute for Translational Neuroscience

We speed neurological treatment discoveries through deep collaboration.

The Institute for Translational Neuroscience is the first institute aimed at developing an ecosystem where basic scientists and clinicians work together to unravel mysteries of human brain function and speed the development of novel treatments and therapies.

We foster deep and lasting collaboration across disciplines; break down barriers between basic, translational, and clinical research; define the big questions in neuroscience; and establish the teams to answer them.

The Institute for Translational Neuroscience launched in 2024 as an evolution of the Neuroscience Institute, uniting over 100 faculty members from over 16 departments—alongside clinical investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and researchers from multiple centers and institutes—to drive progress in the field and make a significant impact on the treatment of brain disorders.

Although there are a few institutes with similar names at other academic medical centers, they focus almost exclusively on translational scientists. Ours is the first to drive real progress by basing our approach on unfettered collaboration among basic, translational, and clinical researchers.
