Occupational and Environmental Lung Disease

The Occupational and Environmental Medicine clinic evaluates exposures and complains for interstitial lung disease, occupational asthma and workers compensation. Work-aggravated outcome is studied. A cohort of ConEd asbestos-exposed workers is followed with CT scans for asbestos, pleural plagues and lung cancer, BAL and brushings are studied for genomics. An inhalation mold for silicosisis studied for cytokines, apoptosis, TGFB and other factors in transgenic mice. Macrophage and bronchial epithelial (small airway) cell lines are evaluated for gene expression following inorganic dust exposure in vitro.
