Educational Programs

Department Chair David L. Keefe, MD and Vice Chair for Education, Abigail Ford-Winkel, MD.

The NYU Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is dedicated to promoting women's health through excellence in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education.

Through teaching in the preclinical and clerkship years of the medical school, residency and fellowship programs and postgraduate courses, the NYU Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology aims to maximize the educational experience using principles of adult learning and education technology. Using a combination of simulation, reflective practice and self-directed learning, we apply the latest research in education to our practice of teaching. Through scholarship in medical education, we aim to advance the science behind the training of exemplary obstetricians and gynecologists.

We believe that the best way to ensure the health of our patients is through an educational environment that focuses on the needs of their doctors as they develop from novice to expert. Our physicians-in-training are encouraged to focus needs of the individual patient, while advocating for patients in the community and developing perspective about the issues that impact the health of women worldwide.
