The breadth and depth of learning obtained  through the combined experiences at the three hospitals is hard to find in other programs. I also felt that after graduating the residency program I would be fully capable and competent at doctoring--meeting the social, emotional, and physical needs of my patients. Given our diverse patient demographic, I truly believe that when I graduate, you will be able to drop me anywhere in the US and I will be equipped to care for the patients.

I was so impressed by everyone I met and felt an instant sense of support, connection, and encouragement amongst the residents (I can now fully attest that that truly is the case!). In addition to finding the right "fit," when it came to choosing a residency program I was committed to selecting an institution that would provide me with the widest exposure: exposure to different patient populations, exposure to different styles of practicing, and comprehensive exposure to the breadth of the specialty. NYU meets, and exceeds, all of those criteria. It is a truly heterogenous institution with boundless opportunities for learning and service across all dimensions.

The ability to be able to train at one of the oldest hospital in America (some argue it is the oldest) is unparalleled. And if that wasn’t enough the people at NYU are amazing (don’t have enough superlatives to emphasize this!), they are beyond invested in my education as a resident, and training in an environment that produces leaders in our field.

Why I chose NYU: SO MANY Reasons! First and foremost, the culture of this program struck me as welcoming and supportive from the moment I stepped in the door. The people here truly love doing what they do and investing in residents to become the best stewards of Women's Health. I also wanted to be at a program that saw a diverse patient population with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, disability, etc. and worked to give each group equitable care. With the combination of the three hospitals I get exactly that and will leave this program equipped to see patients who come from many different places, presenting with a myriad of physical and social ails, and I'll be able to see them in a variety of settings.
