Division of Healthcare Delivery Science

The mission of the Division of Healthcare Delivery Science (DHDS) is to bridge academia and the healthcare delivery system to advance research and practice in implementation science, quality of care and patient safety. Our vision is to be an academic home for researchers interested in the practical application of industrial and human factors engineering principles, mixed methods evaluation, predictive analytics, clinical informatics, safety science and quality improvement methodology to real-world healthcare delivery challenges.

Research by division faculty spans a wide range of topics, from developing novel methods of identifying safety gaps and systems failures, to qualitative and quantitative evaluation of large-scale health systems interventions both at NYULMC and nationally.

Our affiliated Center for Healthcare Innovation and Delivery Science (CHIDS) serves as a locus for clinicians, researchers, educators and administrators to work together to accelerate the transformation to a learning healthcare system and to improve patient outcomes. CHIDS supports front-line innovation efforts, provides training and resources for evaluation work, and conducts healthcare delivery research.
