FuturePractice is an innovation lab within NYU Langone Health that develops creative solutions to optimize the care experience for staff, clinicians, and the people we serve. We solve problems, inspire change, and explore emerging technology applications in partnership with our multidisciplinary colleagues.
We stand in the gap between academic research and digital practitioners, publishing and participating in thought leadership that is both scholarly and operational.
About Us
Our diverse team is adept at deploying human-centered design methods to conceptualize new innovations. We place people’s needs and preferences at the center of the design process. By involving patients, clinical staff, and other stakeholders in the design process, we can gain valuable insights into their experiences and develop solutions that are tailored to their specific needs.
We enjoy inspiring others and sharing knowledge about design thinking and innovation strategy. We are a collaborative partner within NYU Langone and other NYU schools and departments, including NYU Tandon School of Engineering and its Integrated Design and Media Program and the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Our Services
Our diverse team excels in employing human-centered design methods to generate innovative concepts. We conduct design research, experience design, rapid prototyping, prototype testing, pilot evaluations, technical discovery, development of minimum viable products (MVP), and more.

Healthcare Innovation Bridging Research, Informatics, and Design Lab
The Healthcare Innovation Bridging Research, Informatics, and Design Lab (HiBRID) is an informatics research group in the Division of Healthcare Delivery Science in the Department of Population Health. Like FuturePractice, HiBRID Lab is under the leadership of Devin Mann, MD.
NYU Tandon School of Engineering
FuturePractice works to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations and events with faculty and research groups at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, such as the Digital Health Workgroup, Oded Nov, PhD, and Batia Wiesenfeld, PhD.
The FuturePractice team is part of the Department of Health Informatics within Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT), which supports our digital health innovation work.

The MCIT Department of Health Informatics is a community of clinicians, researchers, educators, informaticists. and administrators committed to nationally recognized, coordinated efforts enabling world-class, highest-quality, equitable care, education, research and innovations grounded in the application of health informatics and digital health tools.
MCIT
MCIT serves as the institution’s clinical information technology and operational backbone. It mobilizes the power of clinical systems, data, and technologies to enable practice transformation and improve healthcare by fostering collaboration and applying informatics principles.
