We explore desirable futures for healthcare to make it work better for more people.

FuturePractice is an innovation lab within Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) serving NYU Langone Health. Our mission is to explore, design, and test potential healthcare solutions. In partnership with our multidisciplinary colleagues, we solve problems, inspire change, and explore applications of emerging technology.

FuturePractice Team Members Gather at a Conference Table
FuturePractice works to discover and validate innovative health tech solutions.

With a particular focus on ambulatory care, we aim to improve the patient and clinician experience. Some of our work is pragmatic, and some speculates on desirable futures that may never get implemented; all our efforts align strategically with the long-term institutional goals of NYU Langone.

FuturePractice Methods

Our diverse team is adept at deploying human-centered design methods to conceptualize new innovations. We do design research, experience design, rapid prototyping and prototype testing, pilot evaluation, technical discovery, minimum viable product (MVP) development, and more.

We enjoy inspiring others with knowledge-sharing around design thinking and innovation strategy, and are a collaborative partner within NYU Langone and other NYU schools and departments, such as NYU Tandon School of Engineering and its Integrated Design and Media Program; the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts; and others.

We stand in the gap between academic research and digital practitioners, publishing and participating in thought leadership that is both scholarly and operational.

You can find us in the NYU Langone Innovation Room at One Park Avenue having animated discussions over Post-its, sharing the latest prototype, or hosting inspiring gatherings. Come visit!
