MOTIVATE Research Lab Internship Opportunities

We may be looking for qualified candidates to assist in the MOTIVATE Research Lab. If you are passionate about obesity prevention, committed to research, and enrolled as a student in a health-related field of academic study, please reach out to us about current internship opportunities!

Prerequisites of Internship Applicants

  • enrolled as an undergraduate or a recent graduate of an accredited college or university OR enrolled as a graduate student in a program relevant to our line of research (for example, public health, health education, psychology)
  • bright, motivated, mature, professional, and independent
  • strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • bilingual preferred (Spanish/English)
  • commit at least 10 hours per week for at least one year
  • availability to attend mandatory team meetings (currently Monday mornings at 9:30AM)

This is an opportunity to gain experience working on a critical issue in healthcare and benefit from working closely with a research team with members from diverse, interdisciplinary backgrounds. There are opportunities to be trained and mentored by more senior team members, lead analyses on collected data, attend conferences and lectures at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System, as well as author abstracts/manuscripts, depending on involvement. Past research team members have gone on to medical school, doctoral programs, postdoctoral programs, or paid research positions.

This is an unpaid position available through the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Innovation Research Internship Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Upon completion of the internship, research team members can fulfill practicum requirements or earn academic credit (must be discussed prior to start of internship), and/or receive letters of recommendation.
