Women’s Intensive Leadership Development Program
The Women’s Intensive Leadership Development Program at NYU Langone, also called the WILD Program, uses the complexities and demands of hiking in the wilderness to empower early-career women scientists.
Set among the vast pristine terrain of the Adirondack mountains, the WILD Program is open to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, as well as other NYU schools and colleges, and challenges participants to explore the environment in ways that foster self-confidence, leadership, resilience, and team building.

The WILD Program centers the fundamental principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental conservation because we believe these factors are critical for solving the greatest challenges in medicine and the planet as a whole.
We understand that a lack of diversity represents lost talent, so our culture is inclusive and recognizes the mutual importance and significance of all participants. Similarly, we emphasize equity to ensure all WILD Program community members have their needs met.
We seek to promote women from a variety of backgrounds and drive conversations about how to develop more women into leaders in the field of science, technology, engineering, and medicine, also called STEM. We hope our efforts inspire collaboration and team building, while also encouraging impactful environmental conservation and the betterment of our planet.
We begin accepting applications each year in late January. Register to attend a WILD Program information session. To learn more about the WILD Program subscribe to our mailing list.
